Rates and Information



General Basic Rates

We serve anywhere in Frederick, Clarke, Warren, and Shenandoah counties or Winchester City for a session minimum of 1 hour/$115. We require a non-refundable deposit of $30 at time of booking in order to lock in your session time. The remainder will be due on or before your session date.

Newborn Portrait Sessions

Our newborn sessions are done indoors in our home studio. The current rate for a newborn session is $200. This rate includes up the 3 hours of shooting time, numerous background and prop changes, photographer’s time and talent, image retouching, and online photo gallery with option to purchase prints and/or digital images for an additional fee. We provide all props, including custom-made crocheted items from Stinkin’ Cute. All you need to bring is your baby! See more information about our Newborn Portrait Sessions.

Wedding Rates and Information

We book weddings for either a half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours). All weddings require a minimum of 4 hours and a $150 non-refundable deposit due at booking with the remainder paid in full no less than thirty(30) days prior to your wedding date. Rates apply to weddings located in Winchester City, Frederick, Clarke, Warren, and Shenandoah Counties. Included in all sessions:

  • Previews from your session on our Facebook page. (Make sure to ‘Like’ us)
  • Online, password-protected gallery from your session, for viewing and ordering.

We pride ourselves in being to able to provide fast previews for our clients (we are usually able to provide some images within 24 hours). Facebook provides us with an easy, quick way to communicate with clients and we really enjoy the interaction and feedback we receive through there.

After receiving some feedback on prints of our photos from places like Costco, Walmart, etc., we are aware that the quality of printing in locations like these leaves a lot to be desired. We will now be setting up online, password-protected galleries for all sessions. The online gallery will provide an easy way to place an order for high quality prints. Using professional printers and software with Kodak Endura professional paper, we now offer photographic prints in a variety of sizes from wallets to 30×40 and larger. Prints will be available for purchase as a package deal (for more savings), or a la carte.

As always, we’re happy to modify session fees and inclusions for larger groups or longer sessions. If you have a moms group, church group, family reunion, etc., please contact us for a custom quote for your group.

Payment Questions

What forms of payment do you accept?

Payment for portrait sessions may be made by cash, check or through PayPal.

Do you offer Gift Certificates/Gift Cards?

We do offer Gift Certificates. Please contact us or email us as info@steinphotography.us to let us know that you would like to purchase a gift for a friend or family member.

General Session Questions

When is the best time to have my session?

  • Maternity – In the 3rd trimester
  • Newborns – Within the first 10 days
  • Babies – When they can lift their head up and smile and/or when they can sit without assistance but aren’t mobile
  • Children – Times that do not interfere with nap times, meal times, or immunizations

How far in advance do we need to book?

We schedule sessions on a first-come, first-served basis. Popular times such as Fall & Spring weekends book quickly. Once you’re ready to schedule your shoot, please give us a call or email and we will find a convenient time for both of us.

Where should we take our pictures?

Locations can be natural settings, cityscapes, city landmarks, college campuses, your home, or just about anywhere!

What should we wear?

It’s completely up to you and type of session you’re looking for! High-school seniors often go for something trendy while families with small children may select more classic attire. For more details see our Session Tips page.

Can we go to multiple locations?

Yes, we can go to as many locations in the area as you’d like, provided it’s within the session time alloted.

How many photographs will I receive?

For a typical session, you can expect to receive at least 20 final photographs although it’s possible to have even more.

Can we purchase the digital negatives?

Yes, a DVD containing all full-res digital images can be purchased for $35. You will be able to use these images for personal use only(prints/social media). If you would like to use any photo in a professional publication, please contact us for details on how to get our copyright release on a per image basis.

If our photographs need retouching, is there an extra charge?

Basic retouching (blemish removal, teeth whitening, etc.) is included.
