Winter Storm Saturn – “Snowquester 2013″

We thought it would be fun to do a time-lapse recording of Winter Storm Saturn. Over 1000 images were used to produce this video.

Spring Sessions Filling Up Fast – Schedule Now

We’ve had a lot of inquiries about this lately, so we just want to remind everyone that we are only available on weekends for photo sessions. We have a handful of sessions still available this spring and we will be opening our calendar up for summer sessions soon. We’re not quite ready to start scheduling for fall yet, but we’ll be sure to make an announcement here and on Facebook when we do.

The Olivia Act

We have selected two families to receive free family sessions as part of the The Olivia Act. We are so happy to be a part of this project and can’t wait to photograph these families! While this is something we hope to continue to offer, we apologize that we’re unable to accommodate every family that was nominated at this time. However, we are so blessed to see such kindness and heart in every nominator’s message to us. It’s so uplifting to see this kind of compassion in our community. Please keep paying your kindness and generosity forward! Thank you so much to everyone that sent in a nomination!

Happy New Year – First Shoot of 2013

Our first client of 2013 just arrived today. Kicking off the year with a newborn shoot this weekend :). We also hope to have Mother’s Day Mini-Session information available this week. Stay tuned!

Professional Wall Hanging Display Size Help

If you’re having trouble deciding which size wall display to order, here’s a chart to help you. Many people order 8×10′s thinking that’s a “wall” portrait, when in fact it’s a table top or desk size photo. This chart will help you quickly decide what size is right for you but the best way to determine size is to measure. Use a measuring tape to accurately measure the area you plan to hang your new portrait or artwork and that’s what you should order.

{ Children } – Brothers at Blandy

Two weeks ago we went back to one of our favorite places, Blandy Experimental Farm, in Clarke County, VA. We had the opportunity to photograph a wonderful set of brothers. They both just loved having their pictures taken and were up for anything, including climbing on a tree. More photos from this session can be seen here.

{ On Location } – Nags Head, North Carolina

At the end of May, our family traveled with 3 other families down to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for our summer vacation. While we were down there, Stein Photography took everyone down to the beach one evening for some group and family pictures. We had a great, and time down there. Below are some of photos from the family sessions. I will need to explain a bit about that first picture.

One of the families on the trip is expecting their second child in August and they wanted to use the beach trip for their maternity photo session. So there was an idea floating around between them and us about doing this type of belly shot with the Mom and Dad. Devon suggested that we add their daughter to the mix. The first photo in this post is the resulting image.

After we posted this image to our Facebook page, the mom here shared it on her Facebook page. Within about 5 days of her sharing this photo, it had been seen by 1,200,000 people. That’s right, 1.2 million people have seen this photo. It went ‘Viral’! We contacted local media about this Facebook phenomenon and we had the story in several forms of media over the last week. The Northern Virginia Daily Newspaper ran an article. TV3Winchester in Winchester, VA had a segment about it. Last but not least, this photo was featured on the Today Show with Kathy Lee and Regis Philbin. Regis was filling in for Hoda Kotb that day. You can view the segment here. Or you can watch the recap video we made about this photo.

What a whirlwind the last few weeks have been. We are grateful for all the positive feedback we have received and excited to see how fast our Facebook likes went up. The power of social media is amazing and you can never take it for granted.

Other photos from the maternity session can be seen here.

{ Family } – Adorable Two Year Old

Just 2 days after this wedding we went to the Wetlands Preserve in Winchester, VA to capture the two year portraits for this little guy. He had such a great time walking on the railroad tracks and throwing rocks in the creek with his dad. More from this session are available here.

{ Wedding } – Maggie and Trey

Congratulations Maggie and Trey! We were excited to photograph their wedding at Berryville Baptist Church and their reception at Historic Rosemont Manor in Berryville, VA. More photos from their day are available in the “{Weddings} Maggie & Trey” Album on our Facebook page.

{ Senior } – Free Session Available

We are still offering a free 1 hour photo session to the first 2013 senior to book a session this summer. Please contact us if you’re interested!
